On the last Sunday of July, the competitions in two sports took place in the Slovak town of Strazske: traditional 10-kilometer athletic race on the highway and a 25-kilometer mountain bike race.
Both races were marked by confident victory of Transcarpathians. The bike race was won by master of sports in cross-country, a multiple champion of Ukraine in bicycle oreentering Oleksiy Zhdanovich from Uzhgorod (54.38), second and third places were taken by Slovaks Matos Hainik and Daniel Well.
In the athletic race among women, Natalia Malaya from Uzhgorod – an ex-champion of Ukraine in mountain running – finished first (41.11). Nina Raschupkina from Mukachevo had the fourth result in this category.
The most fierce struggle was in the competition among men. At the very start, two athletes from the Ukrainian national team – Tibor Sachaida from Kosice and Serhiy Raschupkin from Mukachevo – took the lead. And they finished in this order: Tibor won, finishing the 10-kilometer distance in 32 minutes and 9 seconds, Serhiy – 21 seconds later – finished second. Anatoliy Maly from Uzhgorod showed the third result (34:21). Denys Sobol from Mukachevo finished 29th.
