Students of UzhNU – Yevhen Krysa (IV year of the Mathematics Faculty) and Yelizaveta Ryzhak (V year of the Faculty of Human Health) – returned to their native Transcarpathia from the World Championship that was held in Rodbi (Denmark). Together with their coach Andriy Fedorishko, senior lecturer in the university department of physical education, they brought home silver and bronze medals, the Media Center of the university reported.
Lisa had already been the champion and double vice champion of the world among juniors. She participated in adult competition for the first time. She took the III place in the weight category up to 47 kg for women, becoming thus the most titled athlete in Transcarpathian powerlifting.
Yevhen is a master of sports of Ukraine, three-time champion of Ukraine, two-time world vice-champion among juniors, and vice-champion of the world. In Denmark, he was competing in the weight category up to 74 kg for juniors under 23 years old. Yevhen became out of his Russian opponent’s reach after the successful second attempt.
Overall, 15 atletes of the national team of Ukraine in all age groups won 5 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
