As you know, this year marks 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Ukraine.
The celebrations of the Year of Japan in Ukraine have already begun. The Embassy of Japan in Ukraine, in particular, initiated the campaign for planting cherry trees – a symbol of Japan. About 1,000 trees will be planted in 22 cities of Ukraine, as we already informed.
Uzhgorod is also among these cities, the regional center of Transcarpathia will receive 30 trees. This, among other things, was discussed yesterday during the meeting of Uzhgorod Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv with the first secretary of the Economic Department of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine Kamagata Shyoko, who was on a working visit in our region, and the executive director of the "Yazaki Ukraine" LLC Milos Bosak.
Bohdan Andriyiv thanked Kamagata Shyoko and the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine for the gift and said that the city government for their part will join the campaign to plant in Uzhgorod even more of these exotic trees that have become the spring highlight of the city.
