19 fires in ecosystems have been eliminated by Transcarpathian rescuers in the past 24 hours

19 fires in ecosystems in just one day occurred in the territory of Transcarpathian region. Most of them – 6 dry grass and shrub fires – were recorded in the city of Uzhgorod and the surrounding area. Three fires occurred in Irshava and Vynogradiv districts each, two occurred in Beregovo and Mukachevo districts each. There were also fires in Velyky Berezny, Mizhhirya and Tyachiv districts. In total, the fires destroyed more than 23 hectares of vegetation.

Since the beginning of the year, Transcarpathian rescuers have eliminated nearly 700 dry grass and shrub fires. And this stunning figure is the result of human activity. After all, in the spring, each owner considers it his responsibility to clear the territory and in order to save time and effort, they simply set fire to the vegetation without thinking about the consequences of such actions. We have repeatedly written how fire affects the fertile layer of soil and how animals die in fires. And it’s not just about environmental damage. There have already been cases where flames spread from dry grass to houses and outbuildings.
To avoid disasters, the basic rules of fire safety must be observed. First of all, do not burn dry grass, shrubs and debris on farmland, do not start open fire near farm buildings, and do not throw cigarette butts and matches on dry grassy litter. And a bonfire left unattended in the wild can lead to a massive wildfire!
