5 to 7 years: organizers of the voter bribery in Transcarpathia face imprisonment

In Transcarpathian region, a court imposed pre-trial restraint on three organizers of voter bribery. One was taken into custody, and the other two were placed under 24-hour house arrest.

This was reported by the National Police.

A few days before the election, law enforcement officers detained three residents of Mizhhirya, who solicited voters to "sell" their vote and support a certain candidate for one thousand hryvnias. The offenders were detained in a restaurant while transferring money.

At the court hearing on Monday, the prosecution requested that all three men be remanded in custody. But in the end, the 34-year-old organizer was sent to a pre-trial detention center, and his two accomplices, aged 29 and 44, were placed under 24-hour house arrest.

For this offense, the defendants face imprisonment for a term of 5 to 7 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for 1-3 years.
