Ukraine closes borders for foreigners: who will be exempted

At midnight on August 29, Ukraine officially closes its borders to foreign nationals. Restrictions due to coronavirus will be in force until at least September 28. RBC-Ukraine writes about this with reference to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers  .

Thus, according to the document, the borders will remain open for those foreigners who:

– travel through Ukraine in transit and have documents confirming their departure abroad within two days;

– are Ukrainian students;

– are serving in the territory of Ukraine;

– are employees of diplomatic missions and consular posts of foreign states, official international missions, organizations accredited in Ukraine, and members of their families or arrive at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine;

– are drivers and / or crew members of freight vehicles, buses engaged in regular transportation, crew members of aircraft, sea and river vessels, members of train and locomotive crews;

– are instructors of the armed forces of NATO member states and member states of the NATO "Partnership for Peace" program, who take part in training events for units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or arrive at the invitation of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

In addition, the ban does not apply to foreigners who are cultural figures arriving at the invitation of a cultural institution with one person accompanying each of them; foreign citizens arriving to participate in official sports competitions held on the territory of Ukraine, and accompanying persons. Entrance is also allowed to persons transporting hematopoietic stem cells for transplantation and arriving for treatment at health care facilities in Ukraine.
