On August 23-24, 2020, solemn events will be held in Uzhgorod on the occasion of the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine and the 29th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence.
August 23, 9 a.m. – Uzhgorod (Narodna Square) – the ceremony of solemn raising of the State Flag of Ukraine.
August 24, 6 p.m. – Uzhgorod ("Horyany" neighbourhood, architectural monument "Rotunda") – dawn "Prayer for Ukraine" performed by the Honored Academic Transcarpathian Folk Choir.
August 24, 8 p.m. – Uzhgorod (Narodna Square) – laying flowers to the monument to T.G. Shevchenko.
Drivers, please note that in connection with the celebrations:
– August 23 – from 06.00. until 09.30, traffic will be restricted on the section of Bozhenko and Dovzhenko streets (opposite Narodna Square) from the intersection of Bozhenko and Mendeleev streets to the intersection of Dovzhenko and Mayakovsky streets, as well as on the corner of Shevchenko and Tomas Masaryk streets (entrance to Narodna Square near the regional state building) and streets adjacent to Narodna Square.
– August 24 – from 06.00. until 08.30, traffic will be restricted on the corner of Shevchenko and Tomas Masaryk streets (entrance to Narodna Square near the regional state administration building) and streets adjacent to Narodna Square, namely to the monument to Taras Shevchenko.
