There will be six districts in Transcarpathia – the Verkhovna Rada has adopted the resolution on new zoning

Recall that the head of the Transcarpathian regional state administration Oleksiy Petrov has repeatedly emphasized on preservation of Rakhiv district on the new map of the region. One week ago, during a briefing, the official expressed hope that the agreement on 64 territorial communities and six districts would be implemented by decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada. However, for a long time, there were only five districts (without Rakhiv) in the draft documents.

Transcarpathia’s neighbors – Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk – have 7 and 6 districts, respectively.

The boundaries of the newly formed districts shall be set along the outer boundaries of village, town, and city territorial communities that are part of the respective district. The Central Election Commission was instructed to ensure the formation of constituencies and holding of local elections in accordance with the new administrative-territorial structure. The resolution comes into force the day following the day of its publication.
