On the night of May 6-7, unknown individuals committed a cynical crime – by damaging the lock on the front door, they broke into the apartment of a 41-year-old Mukachevo resident. The criminals knew very well that the owners were in the house, so it can be assumed that they were ready to commit a more serious crime, but they were lucky and the owners did not wake up. Cash in foreign currency, an expensive watch and keys to a luxury Mercedes GLS car were stolen from the house. After that, the robbers fled from the scene in the stolen car, and later the owner reported the crime to the police. In addition, in order to destroy the traces of the crime, the robbers took from the house a server with video surveillance cameras footage.
Within hours, the police found the stolen car. The criminals hid the vehicle in a field between the settlements of Kuchava and Dilok, Mukachevo district.
Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department, together with officers of the Mukachevo Police Department, identified the persons involved in the crime. Those were a resident of Mukachevo and a resident of Svalyava. The 40-year-old resident of Mukachevo has already been detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. The other robber is wanted.
Also, at the places of residence of the persons involved in the crime, police officers conducted a series of searches in order to gather evidence of their involvement in the crime.
Investigators charge with the defendants of illegal appropriation of a vehicle and theft combined with breaking and entering, the communication department of the Transcarpathian regional police reported.
