Due to burning of dry grass, a residential house burned down

On March 26 at 9:18 pm, the Transcarpathian Rescue Service received a report of a fire in a residential building on Tsentralna street in the village of Berezovo in Khust district. This was reported by the house owners when they noticed smoke and flames coming from under the roof of the building.
Professionals from the 10th State Fire and Rescue Unit of Khust were sent to extingush the fire. At 21:50 the fire was contained, and the complete elimination lasted until 23:15. As a result, the fire destroyed the roof of the house on an area of 48 sq. m. and the household property inside.
The cause of the fire and losses are being established. However, the fire was most likely caused by the burning of last year’s dry grass and other junk. The day before, the owners, having cleaned the yard, decided to burn the garbage. Without having made sure that the fire was completely put out, they left it unattended and went to get ready for sleep in a new house next to the old one, which later became the focus of the fire. The fire, meanwhile, grew bigger and first spread over to the extension where firewood was stored, and then began to destroy the house.
Fortunately, the firefighters stopped the fire before it reached the new house where the family lives.
None of the people were injured in the fire. In total, 5 firefighters and two pieces of equipment were employed for the firefighting operation.
