The court in Krakow, based on the materials of the Security Service of Ukraine, has convicted three former right-wing activists of Falanga and Strzelec for trying to set fire to the Hungarian Cultural Center in Uzhgorod.
In February 2018, two persons tried to set fire to the building of the Hungarian Culture Society in Uzhgorod. One of them threw a Molotov cocktail, the other one videotaped the arson. Under the initiated criminal proceedings, the Security Service of Ukraine carried out a complex of operational and search measures.
Special service officers found out that two Polish citizens, members of the Falanga right-wing organization, were involved in the arson. Members of this organization participated in the war in Donbass on the side of "LNR" and "DNR". Ukrainian law enforcement officers identified those persons on the footage from the CCTV cameras, found out mobile phones which they used to coordinate their actions, the gas station where they bought fuel for arson after they had crossed the border with Ukraine.
During the pre-trial investigation, it was found out that the arson was set up by a third member of the Polish right-wing organization. All materials were sent by the Ukrainian party via the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Poland. Polish law enforcement officers detained the three offenders. The court in Krakow found the perpetrators guilty of the crime. The organizer was sentenced to three years of imprisonment, the executors – to lesser terms.
