At the checkpoint “Tisa”, a Mercedes was confiscated from a foreighner for smuggling (PHOTOS)

Last night, border guards of the crossing point "Tisa" of the Chop detachment found another batch of cigarettes being illegally transported to neighboring Hungary. Together with the customs officers, they found them in a car Mercedes with Slovak license plates.

During the inspection of the vehicle, the border guards inspected and tapped the structural cavities of the car, in particular the wheels. Thus, they found the contraband cigarettes. A 28-year-old Hungarian man hid them from control in two running wheels and in a spare. In total, they found 460 packs of cigarettes, half of which were without excise duty stamps in Ukraine.

The value of the cigarettes without excise duty stamps is currently being established. The car and the tobacco products with excise stamps were valued at a total amount of over UAH 76 thousand.

Due to violation of customs rules under Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, all cigarettes were seized. Customs officers also confiscated the car Mercedes.
