"Europe and Ukraine in 2020 – New Opportunities, Old Threats". The thirteenth Europe-Ukraine Forum under this title was held in the Polish city of Rzeszow on February 4-5. It was attended by Uzhgorod City Council officials: the head of the International Cooperation Department Victoria Tarakhonych and her deputy Dmytro Miroshnikov.
They attended several panel discussions.
Two plenary sessions took place within the Forum: the first was devoted to the place of Eastern and Central Europe countries on the political and economic map of the continent, the second session dealt with the balance of change over the 30 years since the fall of the communist system. The panels were divided into thematic blocks: business, investment and economy, European integration and reform, international and security policy, society, education and youth policy, new initiatives in Ukrainian-Polish relations. They discussed transport infrastructure building, development of innovative economy, prospects for increasing foreign investment in Ukraine, tourism development opportunities, strengthening the position of women in public and political life, joint projects in media and culture.
They also discussed the topic of regional cooperation, in particular in the Carpathian macro-region, and that within the framework of the trilateral cooperation program "Poland-Ukraine-Belarus".
During the XIII Europe – Ukraine Forum, there was an international exhibition "Eastern Fair", several presentations of Ukrainian regions, individual sectors of economy, etc. Several hundred participants from Ukraine, Poland and other Eastern Partnership countries, EU and USA, including government officials, politicians, businessmen, regional officials, journalists, representatives of international organizations and think tanks, participated in the event.
