In Mukachevo district, robbers attacked policemen

In Transcarpathia, two residents of Mukachevo district were detained for inflicting injuries to policemen
While checking a report about a theft from a private home in the village of Obava in Mukachevo district, two local residents injured patrol policemen. The men aged 23 and 58 were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers were taken to the district hospital
Yesterday, January 2, police received a report of a theft of money in the village of Obava in Mukachevo district. The 33-year-old applicant said 5,000 hryvnias and gold jewelry had been stolen from her. In addition, the citizen pointed to the persons likely to be involved in the crime – her relatives, who live in the same house.
Seeing the policemen, the applicant’s 23-year-old relative and his father began to behave aggressively and fighting the policemen. As a result, one of the police officers suffered a closed brain injury, a concussion and a contused wound to his forehead. Another police officer sufferred leg and arm injuries.
In order to stop the offenders, a police officer fired a warning shot into the air. Also, police were forced to use the special device Teren to restrain the men.
The men, who committed grave disobedience to law enforcement officers, were detained in accordance with the Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine and taken to the Mukachevo district police station.
Law enforcement officers were provided the necessary medical assistance. One of the police officers is in the hospital.
Two criminal proceedings were opened over the incident: under part 2 of Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Threat or violence against a law enforcement officer) and part 2 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Resistance to a law enforcement officer performing his or her official duties). The investigation into the case is ongoing.
