The period of the New Year and Christmas holidays, unfortunately, is also a good time for thieves. Therefore, it is important to protect your property. Here are some tips from the Transcarpathian patrol police officers:
– before leaving the apartment, do not rush and make sure that the windows and balcony doors are securely closed;
– be sure to install reliable locks and, if possible, alarm system;
– when leaving the apartment, take identification documents, cash and valuables with you;
– ensure that the staircase is well lit;
– do not keep the keys to the apartment with documents, do not attach key chains with your name and address to them;
– never leave the door keys in common places: under the door rug, in the mailbox, in the car, etc.;
– do not give strangers information about yourself, for example, on social networks;
– if you are going to be away for a long time, make arrangements with your neighbors to pick up your mail from the mailbox;
– ask someone to check on your home several times a week and to switch on the light from time to time in the evening;
