Hit and run: fatal road accident in Transcarpathia

A woman who committed a fatal road accident in the village of Pidvynogradiv was found by officers of the local police department.The driver, who fled from the scene of the accident, was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. © The official site of the Main Office of the National Police in Transcarpathian region  
Yesterday, November 14, at about 20:00, a fatal accident happened in the village of Pidvynogradiv. Eyewitnesses reported that a car had hit a cyclist who died from the injuries at the scene of the accident. Meanwhile, the driver fled from the scene. 
The investigative team, that arrived at the scene, found out that a 28-year-old resident of Oleshnyk died as a result of the collision with a car Volkswagen Passat. As the driver of the car had fled from the scene of the fatal car accident, operational measures were taken in the region, during which the driver was quickly identified and found. It was found out that a 22-year-old resident of the village of Velyka Kopanya was driving the Volkswagen Passat. 
Around 19:30, driving on Ardovetska street in the village of Pidvynogradiv in the direction of the village of Vypok, the woman ran over the 28-year-old cyclist and left the scene. 
Investigators opened the criminal proceedings over the fatal accident under Article 286 (2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. 
The bicycle and the car were seized. The driver was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. 
The choice of pre-trial restraint against the woman is being decided.
