Volovets department of the Mukachevo Local Prosecutor’s Office approved and sent to court the indictment against the principal of the local school for professional negligence that caused the death of a child (Part 2 of Art. 137 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
During the pre-trial investigation, evidence was collected that the principal of the school, contrary to her job responsibilities, failed to ensure proper security in the school, Mykhailo Halay, the head of the Volovets department of the Mukachevo Local Prosecutor’s Office said.
Because of that, on May 23, 2019, an 11-year-old student, between 5 and 6 lessons, taking advantage of a free access to the local Vycha river, went there, slipped and fell into the water. The body of an 11-year-old boy was found downstream the next day.
"The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Volovets police department. Volovets department of Mukachevo local prosecutor’s office ensured procedural control over the course of the investigation,” – the press service of the prosecutor’s office of Transcarpathian region informed.
