Mykyta has permanently settled in the Palanok Castle (PHOTOS)

On Saturday, September 21, the upper courtyard of the Palanok Castle in Mukachevo was crowded. The official opening of the Museum of Works by 88-year-old People’s Artist of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, winner of the Order of Yaroslav the Wise, winner of the National T. Shevchenko Prize of Ukraine Volodymyr Mykyta took place there.  

    

Among the guests, there were diplomats – the Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod Miroslav Mojżita, former Consul of the Consulate of Hungary in the Beregovo Endre Szalipszki, the Head of the Honored Academic Transcarpathian Folk Choir Natalia Petiy-Potapchuk, Transcarpathian artists – Vasyl Dub, Taras Danylych, Boris and Victoria Kuzma, Lyudmila Korzh-Radko and Bohdan Korzh, Natalia Sima-Pavlishin, Mykola Shete, Vasyl Vovchok, Ivan Didyk, Odarka Dolgosh. There were also daughters of the artist – art critic Olena Yurchenko-Mykyta, who came from Kyiv, and teacher Anna Mykyta from Uzhgorod, granddaughter and great-grandchildren.

Afterwards, everyone moved to the second floor of the castle, where there is a sign and a brief biography of the artist. 9 halls now feature more than 100 paintings by Volodymyr Mykyta. A catalog with 122 works by the artist was issued specially for the event.  

By the way, the artist’s work can now be seen in 34 museums around the world. And also in Uzhgorod, in the museum of his own works set up by V. Mykyta himself in the yard near the workshop. And started from September 23, in Mukachevo too.
