Former head of Perechyn district state administration has been arrested

At the request of the prosecutor’s office, the former head of Perechyn district state administration convicted of a fatal road accident was taken into custody 
Lviv Court of Appeal granted the request of the procedural prosecutor of the Transcarpathian Prosecutor’s Office and imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention on the former head of the Perechyn district state administration who, while being in a state of intoxication, ran over two women in the city of Perechyn. 
As a result of the road accident, the women aged 66 and 70 were seriously injured and later died in the hospital. 
Recall that on June 14, 2019, the accused was found guilty of a criminal offense (Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for 3 years. 
At present, the verdict has not come into force because of its appeal by all parties to the case. 
The prosecutor’s office and the victims are appealing it because of the leniency of the imposed punishment (in the court trial, the prosecutor asked for a sentence in the form of 10 years imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for 3 years), the defense – because of its severity. 
The appeals are being considered.
