In Transcarpathia, the SBU exposed a scheme for smuggling of timber products abroad

Officers of the Security Service of Ukraine, exposed in Transcarpathian region the scheme for illegal transportation of timber abroad.

The special services operatives found out that representatives of a commercial enterprise had organized an illegal mechanism for exporting timber from the territory of our country.

For customs clearance of products, the dealers provided certificates of origin with false information about its quantity and quality.  Within the framework of a criminal proceeding initiated under Part 2 of Art. 201-1 and Part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, law enforcement officers detained a truck with a batch of smuggled raw materials when it was attempting to cross the customs border with false documents. The cost of the detected goods is almost 138 thousand hryvnias. The investigation continues.

The measures for exposing and blocking illegal activities were taken under the procedural control of the Transcarpathian Prosecutor’s Office.
