Today, on July 16, in the small hall of the regional state administration, under the joint chairmanship of the head of the Regional State Administration Igor Bondarenko and the chairman of the regional council Mykhailo Rivis, there was a meeting of the working group on the installation of a 120 MW wind power plant in the territory of Volovets town council and in the territory of Bereznyaky, Dusino, Nelipyno and Tybava village councils in Svalyava district.
During a lively discussion, the members of the working group expressed their opinions on the feasibility of building the energy facility in the Borzhava valley. The supporters of the installation of the wind power plant stress on its economic importance, the creation of new jobs, revenues to local budgets. The opponents stressed on the risk of significant damage to the environment, which could be caused by the construction and operation of such a large-scale energy facility, as well as damage to the tourist industry in the region.
After the discussion, the members of the working group decided to further study the situation regarding the installation of the wind power plant in Volovets and Svalyava districts and to inform the heads of the Regional State Administration and the Regional Council about the results to make a balanced decision in the interests of the inhabitants of the region.
