The head of the Transcarpathian Regional Forestry and Hunting Range Administration is charged with abuse of office

The prosecutor of the Transcarpathian region indicted the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Forestry and Hunting Range Administration of abuse of his office, which caused the nature reserve fund over UAH 2.6 million damage (Part 2 of Article 344 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In particular, the suspect, together with the first deputy of the Administration and the director of one of the local forest farms, in the period of 2016, abusing the official position, according to law enforcement officers, allowed illegal logging on the territory of the Uzhgorod forestry natural reserve fund.

Thus, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Forestry and Hunting Range Administration, according to the investigation, illegally signed a plan of logging on the territory of the Uzhgorod forestry, on the basis of which the head of the local forestry, under prior agreement with the first deputy head of the Transcarpathian Regional Forestry and Hunting Range Administration, unreasonably issued and approved harvesting tickets.

Later, according to law enforcement officers, on the basis of these documents sanitary felling was illegally carried out on the territory of the natural reserve fund. The total amount of damages, according to the expert’s findings, is over UAH 2.6 million.

Violations of the Transcarpathian Regional Forestry and Hunting Range Administration officials were documented by the prosecutors and investigators of the Transcarpathian regional prosecutor’s office together with the officers of the economic crime department in Transcarpathian region.

 Recall that earlier the prosecutors and investigators of the Prosecutor’s Office of Transcarpathian region, together with officers of the Economic Crime Department in Transcarpathian region, indicted one of the deputy heads of the Transcarpathian Regional Forestry and Hunting Range Administration and the director of one of the local forest farms of abuse of office that caused grave consequences (Part 2 of Article 344 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Further pre-trial investigation is being carried out by the prosecutor’s office of Transcarpathian region.
