Transcarpathian customs officers seized an old book from a foreigner

At the customs post "Tisa", employees of the Transcarpathian Customs prevented an illegal export of cultural property to the countries of the European Union. A foreigner was going to Germany by a truck Mercedes-Benz Vito 111 CDI.

The German citizen chose the "red corridor" for customs control. During the oral questioning, the Ukrainian denied carrying any products in amounts that are subject to written declaration, customs payments and statutory prohibitions or restrictions on carrying across the customs border of Ukraine.

Based on the results of the analysis and risk assessment, the customs officers decided to conduct a full inspection of the car.

Thus, during the customs inspection, the customs officers, together with border guards, found in the vehicle a foreign book titled "Schiller Gedichte und Dramen" by the publishing house "Stuttgart und Marbach Verlag des Schwäbischen Schillervereins", 1909 which was not indicated in the customs declaration.

The citizen admitted that the book was his property. The foreigner did not provide any permits for carrying it across the customs border of Ukraine.

These actions have signs of violation of customs rules under Article 472 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.

The report on violation of customs rules was made, the book was seized until the court decision.
