On June 1, Robert Horvat met with the Transcarpathian schoolgirls who won prizes at the All-Ukrainian stage of the Petro Yatsyk International Ukrainian Language Competition

 Antonina Yastreb, student of the 3rd grade of the Novoselytsia secondary school (Perechyn district), Melisa Ivanyuk, student of the 5th grade of the Nyzhnya Remeta secondary school (Beregovo district), and Oleksandra Solomka, student of the 7th grade of the TG Shevchenko linguistic school of Uzhgorod City Council won the first places in their age groups at the competition. Diana Popovich from the Uzhgorod General Education Specialized Boarding School was the second among 9 grade students. Together with their parents, the girls met with Robert Horvat, took a walk in the center of Uzhgorod and talked about the importance of sound and high-quality education, about the changes that are taking place in this area in Ukraine, about the opportunities provided by external independent testing, and more. The main point of the conversation was that if you study hard and make efforts, all doors will be open for you and you will have many opportunities.

"These girls from different corners of Transcarpathia, from the regional center to the small border village, are among the students who know the Ukrainian language best in the entire Ukraine. They are amazing!" – Robert Horvat said after the meeting.

Petro Yatsyk International Ukrainian Language Competition is a competition aimed at strengthening the status of the Ukrainian language, raising its prestige among young people, and raising respect for the culture and traditions of the Ukrainian people. In recent years, the number of contestants has reached 5 million people from more than 20 countries.

The competition starts annually since 1999 on November 9th, on the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, and takes place in four stages according to the Olympic system: school, district, regional and all-Ukrainian stages.
