Famous native of Transcarpathia, writer Dmytro Kremin has died

Poet Lydia Khodanich-Povkh reported about the death of the famous poet and writer on Facebook. 

"Sad news has come from Mykolayiv: the laureate of the Shevchenko Prize, our countryman Dmytro Kremin has passed away. When such outstanding people die, it is a great loss for the world…" – Lydia Khodanich Povkh wrote.

Dmytro Kremin was born on September 21, 1953 in the village of Sukha in Irshava district (Transcarpathian region). He graduated from the philological department of Uzhgorod State University (1975), was sent to work in Mykolayiv region. He was teaching Ukrainian language and literature at secondary schools, at the Mykolaiv Pedagogical Institute (1979-1981), worked as the head of the regional youth newspaper (1981-1990), and headed the Regional Literary Studio "Dzherela". Member of the Union of Writers of Ukraine since 1979. He headed the Mykolayiv organization of the Union.

His works were translated into English, Latvian, Slovak, Chinese, Russian, Belarusian, Georgian, Ossetian, Romanian and other languages.

Laureate of theT. Shevchenko State Prize of Ukraine (1999), V. Chumak, M.Arkas, Zoreslav prizes. Honored Worker of Arts of Ukraine (2016).

The funeral of the writer will be held tomorrow, May 27, from 11.00 to 13.00 in the hall of the Mykolayiv Regional Council at Admiralska st., 22.
