A van with forged body number was found at the checkpoint “Uzhgorod”

Yesterday, at the checkpoint "Uzhgorod", border guards found a car "BMW" with a forged body number, the press service of the Chop border guard detachment informed.

During the border control of the vehicle with Czech registration entering Ukraine, law enforcement officers had doubts about the legality of its import. So, they initiated an in-depth inspection of the vehicle, during which their doubts were confirmed. An expert-criminalist of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine was involved in the inspection.

It turned out that the number designation of the car body was forged and in the wrong place. In addition, during an in-depth inspection of the certificate of registration for the vehicle, the border guards found out that the document was also forged.

The border guards called at the scene the investigative team of the Uzhgorod Police Department. Upon completion of the necessary procedural steps, the vehicle was handed over to the National Police investigation team for further investigation.

Our compatriot, who tried to illegally import into the territory of Ukraine a passenger car BMW made in 2009, is charged with offenses stipulated by Art. 358 of the CCU "Forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms; sale, use of forged documents" and Art. 290 of the CCU "Destruction, falsification or replacement of vehicle unit numbers".
