On May 3, the concert of the Academic Chamber Choir "Cantus" on the occasion of the anniversary of the choir’s conductor, artistic director, People’s Artist of Ukraine Emil Sokach will be held in the atrium of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration and the Regional Council building.
Emil Sokach was born on April 25, 1959 in the city of Uzhgorod. In 1983 he graduated from Kyiv State Conservatory.
He established and has been heading the Academic Chamber Choir "Cantus" for over 30 years now. During this time, the collective became one of the leading choirs in Transcarpathia and well-known and respected far beyond Ukraine. Cantus is a laureate of international competitions, participant of festivals and forums abroad – in Hungary, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, Germany, Great Britain, etc. The repertoire of the choir includes spiritual music, Renaissance music, Ukrainian folk songs, works by Ukrainian composers, carols, jazz compositions, etc.
This time, the choir "Cantus" and "Jubilate orchestra" will perform "Wir danken dir, Gott" by Johann Sebastien Bach and "Te Deum" by Arvo Part.
The concert starts at 18.00. Admission by invitations.
