Border guards in Transcarpathia counteract smuggling activities. Due to favorable weather conditions and an increase in the number of attempts to illegally cross the border, border guards resumed engineering and technical works on the border, in particular the border with Romania.
Yesterday, on the section of the border guard service department "Dilove", border guards of the Mukachevo detachment began to install a fence on the state border line. A group of young people, about 40 people, immediately arrived at the work site demanding to stop the installation of the fence. The men, most of whom are locals, have had records for breaking the Ukrainian legislation. The young men tried in every way to interfere with and provoke the border guards. Also, the head of the village of Dilove came to the site of fence installation and continued to incite the group of people and demanded to stop the engineering works.
At present, the border guards continue to work and record the actions of the citizens. Local residents, demonstrating protest to the actions of the representatives of the State Border Guard Service, also blocked the road "Rakhiv – Mukachevo".
Local police officers were called at the scene and relevant law enforcement agencies were notified, the press service of the Border Guard Service of Ukraine informed.
