A resident of Vinnytsia tried to break through the border at the checkpoint “Uzhgorod” (PHOTOS)

The incident happened yesterday evening, March 15th. Border guards had to stop a man who tried to move a car with foreign license plates into Ukraine.

The press service of the border guards said that the car was imported in violation of customs legislation, therefore he was denied. Despite this, the man decided to drive through the checkpoint at a high speed.

But he was stopped a few meters before the exit from the checkpoint.

He was detained and brought to responsibility under Article 232 of the CAO "Violation of the border rules, the rules at the points of entry through the state border of Ukraine or rules at checkpoints."

In a few hours, after the change of shift of border guards and customs officers, he decided to try his luck again. Having received a rejection card from the customs officers, our compatriot pretended to turn towards Slovakia, but then suddenly changed the direction and drove the car towards the city of Uzhgorod

At the exit from the checkpoint, the offender knocked down the barriers that were closed to stop the car. The driver completely ignored all the lawful demands of the servicemen.

The offender was stopped outside the border crossing point, thanks to timely measures taken together with the staff of the National Police. Together with the crew of the patrol police, a search and pursuit of the fugitive car was organized, and 20 minutes later the driver was detained in the village of Hlyboke in Uzhgorod district at the beginning of the highway "Kyiv-Chop".

"The detainee was taken to the city police department, his vehicle "Mazda" was seized. After the drawing up of the relevant documents, the man was taken to the temporary detention facility of the Chop border guard detachment in order to find out the circumstances of the offense. He was detained for a term of up to three days in order to prosecute him for the commission of an administrative offense stipulated in Part 1 of Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses "Crossing the state border of Ukraine at checkpoints without the permission of the relevant authorities," – the report of the border guards reads.

In addition, our compatriot is charged with crimes stipulated in Art. 194 of the CCU "Intentional destruction or damage to property", Art. 277 "Damage to communication and vehicles", Art. 345 "Threat or violence against an employee of a law-enforcement agency" and Art. 348 of the CCU "Attack on the life of a law enforcement officer, a member of a public unit for the protection of public order and the state border or a serviceman".

The border guards sent a report about these offenses to the Uzhgorod Department of the National Police in Transcarpathian region.
