Transcarpathia already has examples of successfully implemented projects initiated at the local level and supported by the central authorities. Those include education, healthcare and infrastructural facilities, in particular roads and new checkpoints.
– Roads are, of course, major infrastructure projects, – the President said. – We can safely say that over the past three years, more has been done in Transcarpathia than since Ukraine has gained independence. New modern asphalt plants were built, foreign road companies with powerful equipment came to the region. Since 2017, asphalt roads has been built even in those high-mountain villages where there have never been ones.
The Head of the State informed that this year a record amount of UAH 870 million was provided in the state budget for the reconstruction of the Transcarpathian state and local roads. The projects of the State Fund for Regional Development and local budget funds will be added to it. Road work should begin in the coming days as soon as the weather allows.
– The implementation of the project for the construction of the Beregovo bypass road, which will connect the Hungarian motorway M3 with our international highway "Chop – Kyiv", is very important, – the President emphasized. – After opening of the checkpoint near the village of Dyida, vehicular between Ukraine and the European Union will be optimized. This year we are expecting the opening of another international border crossing point "Velyka Palad – Nagyhodos" on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. We need to get rid of queues at the border, these blocks and "black holes" that harm both the economy and the image of Ukraine in the world.
