At the customs office "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian Customs, during the customs control, the illegal import of foreign medical equipment into the territory of Ukraine was prevented. The goods were being carried by a citizen of Ukraine in a minibus "MERCEDES BENZ SPRINTER". The Ukrainian was driving from Italy.
The citizen of Ukraine chose the "red corridor" for customs control. Customs officers asked the citizen to fill out a customs declaration, in which he indicated his passport data, information about the vehicle and personal belongings.
During the oral questioning, the citizen confirmed the information provided by him in the customs declaration, and denied carrying any other goods, including those prohibited or restricted for transportation across the customs border of Ukraine.
In the course of the customs control of the vehicle, in addition to the declared personal belongings, they found 359 pieces of medical equipment made in Germany, in particular stethoscopes, laryngoscopes, otoscopes, etc., that were not mentioned in the customs declaration and during questioning. The equipment was in the luggage compartment of the minibus among other personal belongings of the citizen.
Thus, the citizen of Ukraine failed to provide accurate and true information about the goods being moved across the customs border, that are not personal belongings and are subject to a written declaration.
These actions have signs of violation of customs rules under Article 472 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
The report on the violation of customs rules was drawn up, the medical equipment, which is yet to be estimated, was seized until the court decision.
