In those seemingly such distant 90s, Ukraine once again broke the shackles and escaped the serfdom. And then it seemed that we would finally walk under the peaceful sky, and we will live "in a free and new family".
In the same year 1990, the opening of one of the first monuments to Taras Shevchenko in Transcarpathia took place in V. Berezny. This was written on Facebook by a participant in those events Viktor Kovach.
"Tomorrow is 205 years since the birth of T. Shevchenko. I took these 1990s pictures out of my photo-chest. Opening of one of the first monuments in Transcarpathia in V. Berezny. The cell of the People’s Movement of Ukraine in V. Berezny gathered the most famous writers, poets of Transcarpathia."
At that time, hardly anyone could think that after gaining independence we would have to go through several revolutions and, worst of all, the war. Probably, on the 205th anniversary of Shevchenko, we should realize that the revolution of mind is still happening too slowly.
The photos provided by Viktor Kovach may not be very good, but people who recognize themselves will have pleasant memories.
