Today, in Uzhgorod, on Pravoslavna embankment, near the monument "Grieving mother", the ceremony for the Day of honoring veterans of wars in the territory of other countries and the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan took place.
Representatives of the clergy held a prayer service, everyone honored the memory of soldiers killed in the course of wars in different countries with a minute of silence.
30 years have passed since the war, which claimed the lives of more than 3 thousand of our compatriots, the same number becsme disabled, and more than a hundred thousand received the status of veterans.
Each 4th participant of the decade-long military-political special operation of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan is a Ukrainian.
Currently in Uzhgorod, there are 287 participants of the war in Afghanistan, 154 of them are disabled due to this war.
The celebrations continued in the Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic, where the regional officials presented honors.
