Customs clearance of cars with foreign registration at the Transcarpathian Customs has already brought to the budget UAH 404.5 million

From November 25, 2018 to January 29, 2019, the customs clearance of cars with foreign registration at the Transcarpathian customs brought to the budget more than 404.5 million hryvnias.

6383 cars were cleared during the specified period. 1744 of those are cars that were imported into the customs territory of Ukraine before the entry into force of the new rules for the import of such cars and are temporary import or transit customs modes. Owners of these cars paid to the state budget more than UAH 110 million in customs payments and almost UAH 15 million of voluntary contributions. This exempted them from administrative liability for non-compliance with the customs rules when importing a vehicle with a foreign registration.

The customs officers note that due to the expiring grace period for the application of the excise tax rate for customs clearance of cars with foreign registration, citizens are more actively registering their cars. Thus, during the past 24hrs, customs clearance of 341 vehicles with EU license plates has been carried out.

Note that the grace period for the application of the excise tax rate (coefficient 0.5) for customs clearance of cars with foreign registration expires on February 22, 2019. After that, owners of such cars will have to pay the full rate of excise tax. This is provided by the current legislation.
