The ceremonial signing of the tomos on autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was attended by clerics of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
Today, January 5, in the Turkish Istanbul, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew signed the tomos of autocephaly for the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). This was reported by the publication "GORDON".
The procedure took place at the Patriarchal Church of St. George.
The ceremony was attended by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy and other officials of the state of Ukraine.
The delegation of the church is headed by the head of the OCU Epiphanius.
Ukrainian clerics participated in the liturgy. In particular, they sang in Ukrainian.
Recall that on December 15, 2018, the unification council was held in the Sofia Cathedral in Kyiv to establish the local Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
During the cathedral, Metropolitan Epiphanius was elected the head of the united Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The Ecumenical Patriarchate acknowledged the results of the council and invited Epiphanius to the Phanar on January 6, 2019 to hand over the tomos on autocephaly to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
