On Wednesday, January 19, the main Christmas tree of Transcarpathia was lit up on the Narodna Square in Uzhgorod. The green beauty traveled 250 km and almost three days in order to cheer Uzhgorodians and guests of the regional center during Christmas and New Year holidays. The tree was decorated with a kilometer of garlands and 500 decorations, and frost generously sprinkled the main holiday attribute of the region with silver.
St. Nicholas with his suite came to the event. Hundreds of children came to Uzhgorod from all over the Transcarpathians. The guests were entertained with a dramatized performance by actors of the Transcarpathian Academic Regional Puppet Theater "BAVKA".
And, of course, there can be no holiday without gifts. Every child received sweet surprises. And before that, the play "Two Snow Maiden and One New Year" was presented on the stage of the Transcarpathian Academic Regional Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater.
At the end of the event, thousands of lights went on on the 20-meter-tall Christmas trees and warmed up all people present on the square with the warmth of the coming holidays.
– Let these lights become a symbol of all our good deeds and endeavors. I wish all your dreams to come true, and peace, prosperity and well-being for our country, – the head of the region Hennadiy Moskal said.
