The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine believes that the killer of Major Vadim Berezensky deserves life imprisonment.

Recall that the border guard died yesterday from the injuries inflicted by a smuggler, who deliberately ran over him with a car.

"The smuggler, who killed the border guard and fled from the crime scene, has been detained by the police. Tomorrow (on Sunday), there will be a court hearing – Art. 348 of the CPC, the punishment under the article is life imprisonment. Bastard. But our officer can’t be brought back from the dead", – Arsen Avakov wrote on his Twitter page.

The 34-year-old smuggler, who ran over the border guard in Dilove and was hiding in Rakhiv, surrendered to the police on November 17.

Today, in Uzhgorod city and district court, a pre-trial restraint will be imposed on him.

Obviously, given the gravity of the crime, it will be detention. It is unknown when the hearing on the merits will take place, but it probably will not be delayed due to the wide publicity of the incident.
