The second wave of measles incidence is being observed Transcarpathia

During the past week, 126 cases of measles were registered, up 54% from the previous week (126 versus 82 cases). According to the head of the epidemiological surveillance and infectious diseases prevention department of the Transcarpathian Regional Laboratory Center of the MoH of Ukraine Victoria Tymchyk, 67% of the patients are children under the age of 17 years (85 cases), 33% are adults (958 cases). Cases of measles have been registered in Tyachiv, Mizhhirya, Irshava, Mukachevo, Uzhgorod, Beregovo, Perechyn, Svalyava districts and in the cities of Mukachevo and Uzhgorod. Since the beginning of 2018, 3,459 cases of measles have been registered in the region, which 275 per 100 thousand people. 2,787 patients are children under 17 years old (81%) and 672 are adults (19%). 

Now, every health care facility has all the vaccines needed for immunization in accordance with the vaccination calendar. Those include the measles vaccine: it is safe and and will protect against three diseases: measles, rubella and mumps.
