Today, on October 23, Hungary remembers the victims of the 1956 anti-communist uprising.
Traditionally, on this day, representatives of the Hungarian community of the region and the diplomats of the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod lay flowers near two monuments – in the park near the "Owl’s Nest" and at the entrance to the Uzhgorod prison, where, after the bloody suppression of the revolution, the arrested participants were kept before being taken to the Soviet Union.
