Last week (from 12.10 to 18.10.2018), low intensity of the epidemic process with acute respiratory infections was observed in the region. The number of registered cases is gradually increasing, last week’s increase was 14% (349 cases). 2878 people fell ill with acute respiratory infections, the incidence rate is 13% below the epidemic threshold.
According to the head of the epidemiological surveillance and infectious diseases prevention department of the Transcarpathian Regional Laboratory Center of the MoH of Ukraine Victoria Tymchyk, the majority of the patients (67%) are children under the age of 17 years (1935 cases), the rest are adults (943 cases). In comparison with the previous week, the number of ARI cases among children under the age of 4 has increased by 24% and among children aged 5-14 – by 11%.
The hospitalization rate is 4.5%. Most of the hospitalized persons are children under the age of 4, the circulation of seasonal agents of respiratory infections was confirmed.
During the last week, as of October 18, 2018, according to the latest reports, 63 cases of measles have been registered in the region. Among the infected people, children under 17 years old make up 86%, adults – 14% (9 cases). Cases of measles have been registered in Tyachiv, Mizhhirya, Irshava, Mukachevo, Velyky Berezny, Perechyn, Rakhiv, Khust, Vynogradiv districts and in the city of Uzhgorod.
Since the beginning of 2018, 3,251 cases of measles have been registered in the region. 2639 patients are children under 17 years old (77%) and 612 are adults (23%).
