There is no epidemic of influenza and ARVI in Transcarpathia, but the precautions are relevant

According to the Head of the Department of Epidemiological Surveillance and Prevention of Infectious Diseases of the "Transcarpathia Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine" Viktoria Tymchyk, last week (from 05 to 12 of October), low intensity of the acute respiratory infection epidemic process was observed. The number of appeals to health care institutions in the region in comparison with the previous week increased by 5% (by 128 cases). 2,529 people contracted respiratory infections. The incidence rate is 201 per 100,000 people and is 25% below the epidemic threshold. Among the patient, 66% are children under 17 years of age (1,682 cases) and 34% are adults (847 cases). In comparison with the previous week, the incidence of ARVI among children aged 5 to 14 increased by almost 12% and among people aged 65 and older – by 24%. The hospitalization rate is 5%. The largest share among the hospitalized persons is traditionally children under the age of 4. Monitoring of the epidemic situation in the region continues.
