Transcarpathian customs officers found “Marlboro Gold” in a fuel tank

An attempted smuggling of tobacco products from Ukraine was prevented in the customs control area of the customs post "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian customs office. A citizen of Ukraine tried to smuggle cigarettes in a car "MERCEDES – BENZ 115CDI" with Lithuanian registration, which was heading to Italy.

Moving through the "red corridor" of the customs post, the Ukrainian orally and in writing declared to the customs officers that he was not carrying any prohibited goods.

Based on signs of presence of specially manufactured caches in the vehicle, customs officers decided to conduct an in-depth customs inspection of the vehicle. As a result, they found 250 packs of cigarettes hidden from the customs control in the fuel tank of the vehicle. All the found the cigarettes were domestically produced, with excise stamps of Ukraine, brand "Marlboro Gold". The value of the found cigarettes is 9,285 UAH.

Thus, the citizen of Ukraine committed acts aimed at moving goods across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control, ie using specially manufactured caches.

These actions have signs of violation of customs rules under Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Based on Article 511 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, the goods, that are direct objects of the violation of customs regulations – the tobacco products, and the vehicle made in 2005 worth almost 137,000 UAH – were seized until the court decision.
