On September 14, the reception of official delegations from Uzhgorod’s twin cities and guests from Ukrainian cities took place in the Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum.
In particular, the Vice Prime Minister of the Slovak Government Richard Rasi, the Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod Miroslav Mojzita, the Consul General of Hungary in Uzhgorod Jozsef Buhajla, the Honorable Citizens of Uzhgorod – the Consul General of the Slovak Republic in Uzhgorod in 2012-2017 Janka Burianova and the Vice-Governor of the city of Michalovce Gabriel Dorić – wished Uzhgorod happy birthday.
There were also guests from the twin cities: Romanian Satu-Mare, Slovak Kosice, Polish Krosno, Hungarian Debrecen, Nyiregyhaza, and Békéscsaba, German Darmstadt, Slovak Michalovce. For the first time, guests from far-away China – the city of Xinzhou – came to Uzhgorod. There were also delegations from Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytsky.
Uzhgorod currently has twenty twin cities, and Chinese Xinzhou joined recently.
This year we celebrate the 25th anniversary of friendly, twin-city relations with the Slovak Kosice, the 10th anniversary of twin-city relations between Uzhgorod and Polish Krosno.
On the occasion of the commemorative dates, Uzhgorod sculptor, teacher of the Art-therapy Center "Magic Pot" Oleksandr Sinko made commemorative insignia that Uzhgorod Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv presented to the Vice-Mayor of Kosice Renata Lenartova and the Vice-President of the city Krosno Bronislav Baran.
During the official reception today, two agreements were signed: with the Vice-Mayor of the Chinese city of Xinzhou Wan Yue – on cooperation, and with the Vice-Mayor of Krosno Bronislav Baran – on the implementation of the joint grant project of the Cross-Border Cooperation Program "Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2014-2020" on increasing access to medical services in Uzhgorod and Krosno.
