From 8 to 14 of August, lovers of astronomical tourism will be able to enjoy the most dynamic, stable and large meteorite flow – Perseids. The shooting star rain occurs annually when the Earth passes through the orbit of the Swift – Tuttle comet. The comet approaches the Earth only once in 133 years, but the Earth passes through its tail every year. The fragments of the rock from the core of this comet burn like stars in the atmosphere of the Earth. This phenomenon can be observed from any place of the planet, but it is most vivid in the northern hemisphere.
Perseids are one of the three greatest meteorite flows of the year. This stream can be observed from July 23 to August 22. The period of greatest activity is from August 8 to August 14, and the peak is on August 12-13.
The maximum amount of combustible particles can reach over 200 per hour. In order to see the Perseids, you just have to find a place with a good view of the sky, preferably away from all sources of light.
