The Transcarpathian-Frankivsk Festival on Hutsul blanket will take place in Rakhiv district

On August 12, the Festival and Fair "The Colors of the Carpathian Blanket" will be held in the village of Kvasy in Rakhiv district.

This is a joint project of the Carpathian region, and will be taking place in different parts of Hutsul land. Ivano-Frankivsk region is the partner of the festival, and most of the artists, that will perform at the festival, are from there.

The festival-fair is dedicated to the unique product of Hutsuls – a sturdy and warm blanket of sheep wool, that is woven on a special machine.

There will even be a round table devoted to the blanket. Earlier, the administrations of the regions proposed the idea to nominate the Carpathian blanket to the UNESCO heritage list. Also the program of the festival will include master classes on folk crafts, festive processions, performances by folk groups of Rakhiv, Kosiv districts, and Maramures region (Romania), shows of the Hutsul clothes, as well as a concert program.
