A car OPEL OMEGA with the registration mark of Slovakia arrived at the customs control zone of the checkpoint "Uzhgorod" of the Transcarpathian Customs. The driver, a citizen of Ukraine, chose for customs control the "green corridor" lane, thus indicating that he was carrying objects that are not subject to compulsory written declaration or taxation with customs and other payments or fees and not subject to prohibitions or restrictions for transportation across the customs border of Ukraine.
Taking into account the risk system and the fact that the car was crossing the border through the Transcarpathian Customs for the first time, the customs officers took the vehicle out of the general flow and sent it to the box for an in-depth inspection.
As a result of the inspection of the car, customs officers and border guards found almost 24 kilograms of undeclared amber stones of various sizes. The stones were hidden in the front panel of the car, in the driver’s and passenger’s seats.
Thus, the citizen of Ukraine committed actions aimed at moving goods across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control using specially manufactured caches.
These actions contain signs of violation of customs regulations referred to in Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Based on Article 511 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, the goods being the direct objects of the violation of customs regulations – amber and the car – were seized.
