In 5 forestries of the State Enterprise "Rakhiv Forestry Enterprise", foresters have set up 100 pheromone traps for pest insects, – the press service of the Transcarpathian Regional Forest and Hunting Range Administration informed. Traps are used to detect and monitor hazardous pests in a timely manner. Particular attention was paid to the spruce trees damaged by the bark beetle, which in recent years has become more active in Transcarpathia. According to the workers of the state forest protection, pheromone traps will be left in the forests for the period of infestation. Upon expiration, the traps with the beetles caught in them will be destroyed. The bark beetle lives in healthy and fallen trees, in wooden logs, and sometimes stumps. A healthy tree dies in 2-3 years. In the event of detection of the forest pest insects, sanitary measures will be taken, recommendations for the treatments of plant and the forecast of the forest pest populations growth for 2019 will be prepared.
