Representatives of the Hungarian community will be included in the working groups for the preparation of the law

The Ministry of Education and Science and the Hungarian community will work together to develop state standards and standard programs and plan further work on the draft law "On General Secondary Education". This was stated during the meeting of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Lilia Grinevich with representatives of the Hungarian community living in Ukraine, today, June 5, 2018, in the premises of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the website of the Ministry of Education informs.

"I am very glad that today we were able to meet and talk constructively about all the solutions that are necessary for our children. This shows that we can cooperate productively and make joint decisions that are necessary to ensure the rights of our children and the development of our entire state and national communities in particular," – Lilia Grinevich said.

The main emphasis of the negotiations was on the plan of implementation of Article 7 of the Law "On Education", the improvement of methods for studying Ukrainian language, the development of new standards and textbooks, which is expected to be done within the transition period to the full implementation of the language article.

"Now the Government has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law 8046, which provides for the extension of the transitional period until 2023. We agree that this prolongation is appropriate from a pedagogical point of view, but it is also important for us what exactly will be happening during this transitional period and how well it will be organized," – MP Vasyl Brenzovych, a representative of the Hungarian community in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, said.

Also, the issue of printing new textbooks was raised during the meeting.

The Minister Lilia Grinevich noted that it is important to ensure that all textbooks for children in Ukrainian schools are adapted to the realities of the country.

  

The parties also agreed that representatives of the Hungarian community will be included in working groups engaed in the development of state standards and standard educational programs. The community representatives also submitted proposals for a draft language article for the future Law "On General Secondary Education", which should specify the implementation process for the language article of the Law "On Education".
