The incident occurred on June 1 near the entrance to Perechyn from Uzhgorod. In the "Tepla Yamka" tract – the lawn, where people would come to rest – workers cut large and healthy trees and levelled the earth with heavy machinery, the 0312.ua reported.
According to the Mayor of Perechyn Ivan Pohorilyak, it was done by representatives of the Moscow Patriarchate.
"The people, who managed the work, said that there would be a cross there, and that they were doing it for God. In addition, they reported that they had received permission from Uzhgorod State Forestry Enterprise", – Pohorilyak said.
"Tepla Yamka" is a forest tract, a botanical monument of nature of national importance in Ukraine. An object of the nature reserve fund of Transcarpathian region.
"There was a recreation spot here – a lawn with a mountain water spring, Roman Zaidel, an activist from Perechyn says. – Foresters set wooden tables and benches for everyone who wants to admire the mountain beauty and breathe the forest air. Newlyweds returning from Uzhgorod, together with their guests, liked to stop here for rest and take photos in the forest."
