On Wednesday (16.05), heavy rains with thunderstorms are expected in Transcarpathian region, in some places – rain and hail, and a strong wind gain up to 25 meters per second. Due to intense precipitation, water levels on the rivers are expected to rise by up to one and a half meters, and rainfall can cause significant local runoff and the formation of mudflows.
In connection with the deterioration of the weather, the head of the Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal instructed the district state administrations, the Road Service, the State Emergency Service, as well as the Zakarpattyaoblenergo, the Zakarpatgaz and the Ukrtelecom to take all measures to ensure uninterrupted functioning of critical systems. In particular, to check street gutters and small watercourses, if necessary, clear them, as well as to arrange duty of the relevant services, to keep personnel and equipment of emergency teams ready, to check pumping stations and pumps for water pumping, to ensure the stable operation of communication, electricity, gas supply systems, etc., the RSA press service reported.
